Barcelona are worried about the future of Ousmane Dembele.

According to reports, the 23-year-old has not signed a new contract with the Spanish giants and he could be looking to run down his contract and leave on a free transfer in 2022.

Dembele joined Barcelona with massive expectations but his time at the Spanish club has been plagued with injuries.

The Frenchman has not been able to showcase his true potential at Camp Nou and it will be interesting to see if he decides to move on when his contract expires.

Barcelona believed that the 23-year-old winger already has a plan regarding his future that might cost the club financially.

Losing someone of his talent on a free transfer would be a major blow for the Spanish outfit.

The Spanish club wanted to sell Dembele during the summer transfer window in order to generate funds and reduce their vastly inflated wage bill.

Therefore the winger can hardly be blamed for wanting to move on in the near future.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can convince him to sign a short term extension so that they can sell him for a reasonable fee. Alternatively, they could cash in on the player in January to cut their losses.

At 23, the Frenchman still has time to fulfil his potential but he needs to join a club where he can be a key player and start regularly.

Dembele has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past and it will be interesting to see if he can secure a transfer to England in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson has been linked with a move away from the club.

The 23-year-old returned to Old Trafford after a successful loan spell with Sheffield United last season but he has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth for the Red Devils.

At this stage of his career, Henderson needs regular football to realise his potential and it is evident that Manchester United cannot provide him with that platform.

According to reports, Manchester United are ready to let the 23-year-old goalkeeper leave on loan once again and Celtic have been linked with a move.

Henderson was one of the best keepers in the Premier League with Sheffield United last season and a move to the Scottish Premiership might be a step down for him.

He’s good enough to start for most Premier League clubs and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
