Former Chelsea manager could return to the club, Roman Abramovich considering the idea

Frank Lampard introduced Girud in place of a defender before the goal

Chelsea have made a mediocre start to the Premier League season and club owner Roman Abramovich is considering the appointment of Avram Grant to help Frank Lampard and his staff.

The former Chelsea manager could work alongside Frank Lampard in managing the team and his experience could prove to be invaluable for the dressing room.

Chelsea are currently 9th in the Premier League with just 26 points from 17 matches and it will be interesting to see if they can improve their form in the coming weeks.

Frank Lampard will be under tremendous pressure after a poor start to the season especially after the club hierarchy backed him in the transfer market with millions of pounds.

Lampard has struggled to get the best out of his big-money signings like Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.

Avram Grant has worked with Lampard before during their time together at Chelsea and he knows the club well.

It will be interesting to see if Abramovich brings the former Chelsea manager in to help Lampard during the second half of the season now.

The Blues are currently six points adrift of the fourth spot and they will be expected to qualify for the Champions League at the very least this season.

They will have to start putting together a winning run now and they cannot afford to slip up against the weaker teams anymore.
