Jose Mourinho opens up about Dele Alli and Gareth Bale’s lack of confidence

Post-Match - Mourinho on Kane, Ndombele, Lo Celso and Substitution

Mourinho on Dele Alli

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has opened up about his equation with midfielder Dele Alli.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth in the Premier League this season and Jose Mourinho has urged he worked harder and prove that he deserves more opportunities in the coming months.

The England international has started just one Premier League game this season and he will be hoping to play more often.

Alli was one of the best players at the club when Pochettino was in charge of Tottenham but his form has declined rapidly.

It will be interesting to see if he can regain his form and confidence this season.

The player has been linked with a loan move away from the club recently and Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is not concerned with such rumours and his focus is on getting the midfielder back on track for Tottenham.

Mourinho said: “I don’t make decisions about selling A, B or C or letting D, E or F go on loan. I am responsible for the players that belong to my squad and are working with me. And the ones not playing enough time in their mind, in their ambitions – they have only one thing to do. Which is to use the time they play to show me they are better than the ones that are having more minutes. There is no secret to that.”

Mourinho on Gareth Bale

Meanwhile the Tottenham manager has given his thoughts on summer signing Gareth Bale as well.

Mourinho believes that Gareth Bale is lacking in confidence right now and he needs to get rid of any negative feelings he had during his time at Real Madrid.

It seems that the Welsh international is doubting his ability because of what happened at the Spanish club. He was frozen out at Real Madrid and he did not play for months.

Mourinho claims that Gareth Bale does not need a technical or tactical evolution right now and he needs to work on his physical evolution and confidence.

He said: “He is playing regularly, he has the chance of a physical evolution. Of course, he doesn’t need a technical or tactical evolution, he needs a physical evolution and to get into the intensity of matches and to get his confidence back to play consecutive matches like three matches in a week. I think it is more about that.”

It will be interesting to see if Bale can regain his world-class form in the coming months.

The lack of action at Real Madrid has hurt his rhythm and he will have to work hard to rebuild his confidence.
