Kane, Son braces secure thumping 6-1 win for Tottenham over Man United

Ed Woodward-Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur secured a 6-1  win over Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier in the Premier League today.

The London club have had a mixed start to the season and they will be delighted with their performance against the Red Devils.

This would be something special for Jose Mourinho as his side was on the top at his former home ground. Both Jose and Ole perhaps were missing seventy thousands at stands as the pandemic restricted the match to behind-closed-doors.

Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son scored a brace for the London club and the likes of Ndombele and Aurier managed to get on the score sheet as well.

But it started all very differently for Morinhos team, as two minutes into the match they conceded a penalty. Bruno Fernandez scored from spot. It was Tanguy Ndombele who inspired Spurs comeback.

The match will also be marked for a controversial red card to Anthony Martial as he was engaged with an incident with Eric Lamela.

Tottenham will be hoping to qualify for the Champions League this season and Jose Mourinho will be impressed with his team’s performance against the top club like Manchester United.

The Portuguese manager will have wanted to get one over his former side and thumping win over United will have given his side enormous confidence.

As for Manchester United, it will be interesting to see if they manage to improve their squad before the transfer window closes.

They have been linked with the likes of Jadon Sancho and  Dembele. Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as well. Manchester United managed to qualify for the Champions League last year and they will have to perform a lot better if they want to secure their place in the top four this year.

They have been mediocre going forward and vulnerable at the back so far this season and it will be interesting to see if they can improve in the coming weeks.
