Leeds United 0-1 Aston Villa: El-Ghazi’s early strike earns 3-points for Villa

Leeds United crashed to a 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa in the Premier League earlier tonight.

Anwar El-Ghazi scored the only goal of the game early on in the first half.

The Aston Villa winger controlled a mishit from Ollie Watkins and fired the ball past the Leeds keeper five minutes into the game.

Villa did well to protect their advantage with the likes of Emiliano Martinez producing a couple of important saves in the first half.

El Ghazi could have easily completed his hat trick tonight but Meslier produced a couple of impressive saves to deny the Aston Villa winger.

Dean Smith’s side had the chance to increase their advantage on the 67th minute but Tyrone Mings headed narrowly over after his effort was deflected by Liam Cooper.

In form Leeds United winger Raphinha had an impressive opportunity to score a last-minute equaliser but the Brazilian headed wide.

Aston Villa needed a win coming into this game and the fans will be delighted with the response from their players.

Villa have now picked up their first win in three matches and they’re up to 8th in the Premier League table with 36 points. Meanwhile, Leeds are left 10th in the table with 35 points after the defeat and they will be hoping to bounce back strongly in their next outing.
