Leeds United survive late scare to beat Fulham 4-3

The Whites edged out Fulham in the seven-goal thriller.

Leeds United have picked up a narrow win against Fulham at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men were on the front foot from the very beginning, which saw them draw first blood after Helder Costa’s goal.

However, the lead was soon restored when Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a penalty for Fulham. Leeds midfielder Mateusz Klich soon scored a penalty at the other end to give his side an advantage.

The Polish midfielder has been off to a great start in the Premier League, scoring against Liverpool in the matchday 1.

Leeds kept their momentum intact as Patrick Bamford scored the third goal while Costa bagged his second for the day in the space of fewer than ten minutes.

However, the visitors showed no signs of giving up as they kept Leeds’ defence busy till the last minute. Mitrovic completed his brace while Bobby Reid also found the scoresheet, but eventually ended up short.

Although the Whites were free-flowing in the attack, their defence got exposed on multiple occasions similar to the game against Liverpool.

Robin Koch’s performances have left a lot to be desired as the German defender was at the fence for the second game in a row. The former Freiburg centre-back was also not at his best in last week’s defeat against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Fulham have now suffered back-to-back big defeats, and it is not the start they would have expected after promotion to the English top-flight.

Marcelo Bielsa should look into the defensive problems although his side have been good at the offensive end. Leeds United have scored seven goals and conceded the same number in two games.
