Liverpool 0-1 Fulham: Lemina strike inflicts sixth consecutive home defeat for Reds

Fulham inflict further wound to the defending champions at Anfield.

Liverpool‘s woes continued in the Premier League as they suffered a 1-0 defeat against relegation-bound Fulham at Anfield.

The defeat marked their sixth straight home loss at home as their chances of reclaiming the Premier League title are literally over.

Jurgen Klopp went with a brand new line-up, with only Salah and Robertson being the only starters from the old squad. Naby Keita, Rhys Williams and Neco Williams were all given rare starts but failed to make their impact.

Fulham got their breakthrough right before halftime Mario Lemina sending the ball past Alisson Becker.

Liverpool dominated the proceedings in the second half but failed to create any clear cut chances in the final third.

Sadio Mane had his header hit the frame of the goal while Cottages goalkeeper Alphonse Areola made some fine saves to prevent the Reds from scoring. The on-loan PSG shot-stopper has made a name for himself with his impressive displays and he would be more than happy to keep a clean sheet against the defending champions.

The Cottagers were happy to sit back and defend deep in numbers and the strategy turned out to be successful against the Merseyside club.

Fulham, who were without a win in their last two games, would be delighted to get a dream win against Liverpool and they are currently eighteenth in the table, fighting to get out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp‘s men are seventh in the league table and their chances for a place in the top four aren’t guaranteed. Having lost against Chelsea earlier this week, the Reds didn’t beg to differ against the Cottagers tonight.
