Liverpool confirm stunning £45m transfer of Diogo Jota

The Wolves forward is set to join the Reds on a five-year deal.

Liverpool have been hectic than ever in the transfer window as they have confirmed their next signing following Thiago Alcantara.

According to reports, Liverpool have agreed to sign Wolves forward Diogo Jota on a five-year deal. The Portuguese attacker will roughly cost the Reds around £45m, with Wolves expecting to receive the payment on instalments.

Furthermore, the deal could be offset by the departure of the Reds youngster Ki-Jana Hoever, who will be heading to Molineux stadium in search of first-team football.

Jota’s agreement comes right after the announcement of Spanish midfielder Thiago, who has put pen to paper on a four-year deal.

Liverpool have decided to move for Jota after finding the valuation of their target Ismaila Sarr way too expensive.

Jota has been excellent for Wolves ever since he made his switch from Atletico Madrid. The Portuguese attacker racked up a total 16 goals and 6 assists in all competitions last season.

Although mainly deployed on the left side of the flanks, Jota is flexible to play anywhere along the forward line.

The 23-year-old, who made his debut with the Portugal national team last year, was part of the side that won the Nations League.

Jota has been brought in to reinforce the Reds’ attacking line up and to a lesser extent, could provide competition for any of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

While Jurgen Klopp has stated there would be hardly any signings in the transfer window, the Reds have completed back to back transfers of Thiago and Jota in the space of 24 hours.
