Defending champions Liverpool picked up a 3-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League earlier tonight.

Leicester City came into the game leading the Premier League but they failed to take advantage of Liverpool’s injury problems.

The Reds were without several key players but Jurgen Klopp’s men put on a stunning display against the Foxes and they managed to steamroll Brendan Rodgers’ side in the end.

Johnny Evans scored the opening goal of the game by heading into his own net and Diogo Jota doubled Liverpool’s advantage after a sensational cross from Andrew Robertson.

The Reds could have easily scored five or six tonight but Kasper Schmeichel did well to deny them. The likes of Mane and Firmino hit the woodwork as well but the Brazilian striker did manage to score eventually from a well-taken header.

Tonight’s win takes Liverpool to the top of the table level on points with Tottenham. Meanwhile Leicester City drop down to 4th in the Premier League table.

Jurgen Klopp will be delighted with the performance from his players and the only disappointment for him will be the injury to Naby Keita.

The Guinea international has had a torrid spell at Liverpool since his move from Germany and his Anfield career has been plagued with injuries. The true extent of the damage is yet to be determined and it will be interesting to see if Keita can return to action soon.

As for Liverpool, they are now 64 matches unbeaten at Anfield and only Chelsea have a better home record than the Reds in Premier League history.
