Houssem Aouar-Lyon

Liverpool are reportedly in pole position to sign the Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar this summer.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from France, and the likes of TottenhamArsenal and Manchester United are thought to be keen on signing him.

According to reports, Lyon was prepared to sell the player for a fee of around €25 million. Still, newly appointed manager Peter Bosz has requested the club to hold onto the playmaker.

The club hierarchy is currently evaluating the request of their manager, and it seems that the midfielder’s asking price could go up to €35 million now.

Liverpool are leading the chase because they will not have to sell any players to buy the Frenchman.

The Reds are looking to bring in a quality long term replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, and Jurgen Klopp has been following the Lyon midfielder for a while now.

The Liverpool manager wanted to sign our back in 2019 before the Coronavirus pandemic, and the asking price will not be a problem for them.

It will be interesting to see if the Premier League giants can secure the services of their long term target this summer.

Even if the Reds have to pay €35 million for the Frenchman, the player has the talent and the potential to justify the asking price and develop into one of the finest midfielders around Europe.

As for the player, a move to Liverpool would be a massive step up in his career, and he will get to showcase his potential in a more challenging league alongside better players.

It will be interesting to see how the situation of Houssem Aouar develops over the next few weeks now.
