Man City 4-1 Wolves: Late Jesus brace earns 21st win in a row for Guardiola side

Gabriel Jesus-Manchester City

Manchester City picked up a 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League earlier tonight.

Pep Guardiola’s side are in irrepressible form right now and they have extended their lead at the top of the table by 15 points. Meanwhile, Wolves stay 12th in the table with 34 points.

Wolves were up against the best attack in the League but they managed to defend admirably until the 80th minute. A late flurry of goals from the home side in the final ten minutes wrapped up a comfortable victory for City.

Manchester City took the lead on the 15th minute through an own goal from Leander Dendoncker. Rui Patricio produced an excellent save to deny Bernardo Silva after that.

Conor Coady levelled the scores on the 61st minute to bring Wolves back into the game.

However, Manchester City turned on the style in the final ten minutes of the game. Gabriel Jesus gave the home side their lead on the 80th minute and then Riyad Mahrez scored the third goal of the game ten minutes later.

Jesus fired in from a rebound after Raheem Sterling’s shot hit the post.

The Brazilian then scored the fourth goal of the game and completed his brace on the 93rd minute. The goal was adjudged as a legitimate one after a VAR review.

Wolves were the underdogs heading into this contest and the result is hardly a surprise. However, the visitors will be disappointed to have conceded four after defending so well up until the 80th minute.
