Manchester City and PSG in transfer tussle for soon-to-become free agent Lionel Messi

The Argentine has entered his final six months his contract at Barcelona.

Barcelona ace Lionel Messi has now entered the final six months of his current contract, leaving his future uncertain.

The Argentine sent shockwaves in the summer after stating his desire to leave his long-time club but eventually ended up staying.

Recently, Messi also reiterated that his cycle with the Catalan club is seemingly over and would look for new pastures soon.

According to reports, Manchester City and PSG are understood to be the frontrunners to sign the 33-year-old, with the former one attempting to do so in the summer.

PSG have also emerged as the favourites following Neymar’s admission – that he wants to join hands with his friend and former teammate.

Mauricio Pochettino’s speculated arrival to the French capital as the new Les Parisiens boss has also spurred the transfer links as the former Tottenham manager is reportedly looking to manage his compatriot.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner has recently picked Pep Guardiola as the best manager he played under, thus handing a huge boost to City.

Barca have been complacent under Ronald Koeman this season as their title chances are looking bleak, which has left their skipper infuriated.

The current system under the Dutch gaffer hasn’t got the best out of the Argentine, who has suffered a dip in his performance.

It will be interesting to see whether the Catalan club can convince Messi to sign a new contract or the Argentine would call it a time after spending more than a decade in Catalonia
