Manchester City and United have decided - not to furlough staff

Citizens are planning to sign the Portuguese centre-back.

Manchester City continue to get linked with a plethora of defenders and their latest target is Ruben Dias.

According to reports, Man City are in negotiations with Benfica over the signing of Ruben Dias, who will cost around £50m.

City are looking to include Nicolas Otamendi as a makeweight in the deal.

Dias, 23, is one of the highly-rated young centre-backs in Europe. Having risen through the youth ranks of Benfica, he has been an integral part of the first-team since 2017. Furthermore, Dias has earned 18 caps with Portugal national team and was part of the side that won the inaugural UEFA Nations League.

Man City are in the lookout for a new defender even after signing Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.

Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly is still understood to be on the radar of Citizens however his expensive price tag makes him a difficult buy.

Man City have also turned their attention towards the La Liga market, with Jules Kounde and Jose Gimenez emerging as transfer targets.

Sevilla’s young defender Kounde has been monitored by City after his breakout season. The French centre-back was a revelation in La Liga last term.

City have had an offer turned down by Atletico Madrid for Jose Gimenez, confirmed by the Rojiblancos’ president.

Meanwhile, City defender Eric Garcia, who has declined a contract extension, has been linked with a move to his former club Barcelona.

Pep Guardiola’s men have started their new Premier League campaign with a win against Wolves.
