Manchester United picked up a record-breaking 9-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League earlier tonight.

It was their biggest ever win in the Premier League and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be delighted with the performance of his players.

The Old Trafford outfit had been trailing the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in goal difference and they have now managed to get the numbers up tonight.

Southampton had a rough start when Alexandre Jankiewitz was sent off 79 seconds into the game on his full debut after a poor challenge on Scott McTominay.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka scored the opening goal of the game after he was set up by Luke Shaw on the 18th minute. Under fire striker, Marcus Rashford doubled Manchester United’s advantage on the 25th minute and Southampton added to the tally with an own goal by Jan Bednarek on the 34th minute.

Edinson Cavani made it 4-0 to the hosts on the 39th minute and Manchester United went into half time in cruise control of the game.

United picked up from where they left off at half time and two goals in the space of two minutes from Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay around the 70th-minute mark, made it 6-0 to the home side.

Jan Bednarek was sent off for the away side after denying a goal-scoring opportunity on the 86th minute and Bruno Fernandes scored the seventh goal of the game from the resulting spot-kick.

Anthony Martial scored his second goal of the game at the stroke of full time and then Daniel James wrapped up the scoring deep into injury time with the ninth goal of the game for Manchester United.

Manchester United are now up to second in the Premier League table, behind Manchester City on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Southampton dropped down to 12th in the Premier League table after a fourth consecutive League defeat
