Manchester United have three more transfer situations to address

Ed Woodward-Manchester United

Manchester United might have added a handful of players in the deadline day of the transfer window, but still, there are gaps to be plugged in the current squad.

Perhaps, Marquee additions like Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles will paper over the cracks.

Central Defender

The need for a central defender in the transfer window was voiced out by legends like Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville and Patrice Evra, but that was not the case with Man Utd. Even Harry Maguire, the expensive defender’s form is in question following the humiliation suffered against Tottenham. United had been linked with RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.

Lots of deadwood in the squad

One of the biggest concerns for Man Utd is they are unable to get rid of fringe players. Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones are still a hindrance in balancing the books and United failed to offload any of them in the transfer window.

Romero’s issue went an extra mile after his wife hit out at the club for not allowing the Argentine keeper to move to Everton.

No wingers signed

Man Utd had missed out on their long-time target Jadon Sancho. While it was foreseen by the club owing to his expensive valuation, they neither signed his alternatives – Ismaila Sarr and Ousmane Dembele.

Dembele had been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils till the last minute of the deadline day, the transfer, however, fell through. Meanwhile, United had a loan move rejected by Watford for Sarr.
