Mesut Ozil in talks with DC United after a lucrative offer from the MLS side

Arsenal looking to part away with Mesut Ozil

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is in negotiations with Major League Soccer team DC United.

The German midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal and he was left out of their Premier League squad and the Europa League squad earlier this season.

Ozil has not played for Arsenal for several months and the MLS side are now frontrunners to sign him.

The 32-year-old is past his peak but he could still be a very important player for most teams and he needs to get back to playing regular first-team football once again.

The German will be a free agent at the end of this season and it remains to be seen whether he waits until the summer to move to the United States on a free transfer.

According to reports, DC United have offered him an attractive package and he would be the face of the Washington based side if he decided to move to the club.

The last time Mesut Ozil played for Arsenal was on the 7th of March 2020 before the lockdown.

The Gunners have struggled with the lack of creativity this season but manager Mikel Arteta has chosen to leave out the 32 year-old because of footballing reasons.

However, it is believed that Mesut Ozil comments regarding China’s treatment of Uighur Muslims played a part in his exclusion from the Arsenal squad.

Ozil has been training with the Arsenal side but he is unlikely to get any game time with the Gunners this season.
