Newcastle agreed on a £13.5m deal to sign Jamal Lewis

Liverpool interested in Norwich City's Jamal Lewis

Newcastle have agreed on a £13.5m deal to sign Jamal Lewis from Norwich City.

The highly talented defender was linked with a move to Liverpool earlier this summer. However, Norwich’s exorbitant demands forced the Premier League champions to move on to other targets in the end.

Despite Norwich’s relegation, Lewis was very impressive for this past season. It is no surprise that the Premier League clubs are circling for him now.

The 22 year old defender is highly talented and he deserves he joined a Premier League club.

A move to Newcastle would allow the player to play regularly at a high level and express his talent.

The Premier League side needed to sign a left back this summer and Lewis should prove to be a superb long term signing for them.

Newcastle had no permanent left backs last season and the likes of Danny Rose and Willems were signed on loan to fill the void.

It will be interesting to see if the 22 year old defender can settle into his new club quickly and deliver an instant impact next season. the player is expected to sign a long term contract with Newcastle United and it remains to be seen whether Steve Bruce can help him fulfil his potential at the club.

Lewis has the talent to develop into a reliable Premier League defender with the right coaching and regular game time. A move to Newcastle would be the ideal next step in his career right now.
