Ozan Kabak on his way to Leicester City

Ozan Kabak-Schalke

Leicester City are closing in on the signing of the Turkish defender Ozan Kabak.

The 21-year-old was on loan at Liverpool this past season, and he managed to make an impressive contribution to Liverpool’s push for a top-four finish.

The Reds had the option to sign the player permanently earlier this summer, but they decided to sign Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig instead.

Kabak is highly rated across Europe, and he could develop into a top-class defender for Leicester City.

The youngster will join up with his compatriot Caglar Soyuncu at the King Power Stadium next season. It will be interesting to see if he can establish himself as a key starter for Brendan Rodgers‘ side.

According to reports, the Premier League side pay a fee of around €9 million for Kabak. The Schalke defender certainly has the potential to justify the asking price in the coming seasons.

The German outfit are under financial stress right now, and they needed to sell the youngster this summer.

Meanwhile, Leicester City needed to improve their defensive options as well, and the signing of Kabak makes a lot of sense.

The likes of Jonny Evans are in their twilight years, and Rodgers needs to plan for the future by bringing in quality young defenders.

Kabak has played in the Premier League before with Liverpool, and he will be expected to slot in seamlessly and make an immediate impact for the Foxes next season.
