Premier League clubs in London, Liverpool, can welcome fans to the stadiums

Championship playoffs for Premier League qualification

Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently announced that fans will be allowed to return to the stadiums once the current lockdown in the United Kingdom ends on the 2nd of December.

According to SkySports, Premier League clubs in Liverpool and London will be able to welcome their fans back into the stadium but the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Leicester City will not be permitted to bring their fans back to the stadium because of the coronavirus situation in those areas of the country.

The country will be divided into Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 areas depending on the coronavirus situation in the specific zones.

The Premier League clubs who are in Tier 2 and will be allowed to bring in a maximum of 2000 spectators in a game are Arsenal, Brighton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Southampton, Tottenham and West Ham.

Aston Villa, Burnley, Leeds, Leicester, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle, Sheffield United, West Brom and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all in Tier 3.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to welcome their supporters back for the first time since March when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on the 5th of December.

The clubs have suffered major financial losses due to the absence of matchday revenue and although the return of 2000 supporters per game will not help them recoup those losses immediately, it will still be a major step towards normalcy.

Meanwhile, EFL clubs are looking to welcome back the fans to their stadiums as well and currently, 34 clubs have been placed on the Tier 2 list.

In the Premier League, Arsenal will be the first club to bring their supporters back into the stadium when they take on Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on the 3rd of December.
