Levy’s stance on Mourinho sacking

Tottenham have had a mediocre season by their standards so far and manager Jose Mourinho has failed to live up to the expectations.

The Portuguese manager was heavily backed during the summer transfer window so that he can guide the club to silverware this season.

However the Londoners do not seem likely to win a trophy this year and they could miss out on Champions League qualification once again.

It seems that Mourinho’s future at the club would be in doubt but Chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to wait until the summer before making a concrete decision.

Tottenham need to qualify for Champions League football in order to cope with their recent financial losses during the pandemic and it will be interesting to see if Jose Mourinho can turn their season around in the remaining games.

Cavani new deal

Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the club will open talks with Uruguayan international Edinson Cavani regarding a contract extension.

The 34-year-old striker signed on a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain at the start of this season and he has been quite impressive for the Red Devils.

There is no doubt that Cavani has the fitness and the quality to play at the highest level for another season and it will be interesting to see if the Premier League side can agree on an extension with him in the coming months.

Solskjaer said: “We’ll sit down with him and speak with him in the near future, of course, to see his plans and our plans. You always speak to your players and with his contract situation, we’re very pleased with what he’s done.”

Aguero departure

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero could be on his way out of the club at the end of this season.

The Argentine is nearing the end of his contract and he has now cast fresh doubts regarding his future at the club by stating that he does not know whether this will be his last season with the Premier League leaders.

Aguero has been one of the best strikers of his generation and a Manchester City legend. It will be interesting to see how Pep Guardiola replaces him if he decides to move on.
