Southampton 0-1 Manchester City: Sterling scores the winner

Pep Guardiola-manchester City

Man City edge past Southampton in a 1-0 win in the Premier League.

Manchester City picked up a 1-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League earlier tonight.

Raheem Sterling scored the only goal of the game on the 16th minute to secure all three points for Pep Guardiola’s team.

Southampton did well to fight back after going down 1-0 and the likes of Theo Walcott and Jannick Vestergaard had the chances to score the leveller.

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson produced an inspiring display to keep his side in the lead and the Brazilian helped them grind out all three points in the end.

Southampton will be disappointed to have dropped all three points here especially because of the injury to Danny Ings.

The former Liverpool striker has been in inspired form for Southampton or the past year and his departure weakened Ralph Hasenhuttl’s attack considerably.

The win tonight takes Manchester City up to 5th in the table with 23 points and they are now unbeaten in five matches.

Meanwhile Southampton are a point ahead of Manchester City having played a match more and they will be hoping to bounce back strongly in their next match against Fulham.

Manchester City take on Newcastle United in their next match and they will be hoping to build on tonight’s win and put together winning run now.

Pep Guardiola will be hoping to win the Premier League title this season and his side will have to improve a lot in order to beat the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham.
