Spurs have reached an agreement with the promising Italian goalkeeper.

Fabio Paratici, the new sporting director of Tottenham Hotspur, is starting to show his influence as a host of Serie A players who have been linked to the club since his arrival.

According to a report, Spurs are closing in on the signing of Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini after agreeing on personal terms.

The whole deal is said to be rated at €15m as the North Londoners look to land a goalkeeper before next season.

Gollini had an underwhelming spell at Aston Villa before moving to Atalanta on a permanent transfer in 2018.

Under Gian Piero Gasperini, the 26-year-old managed to become one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A, which led to his maiden cap with the Italian national team in 2018.

Gollini has been a regular for the Goddess over the past few seasons, making around 100 appearances.

The former Manchester United youth star’s time at Atalanta coincided with the club’s best-ever run in their history, securing a top-four finish in the Serie A table for three straight seasons.

Spurs are likely to field Hugo Lloris as their first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming season, but signing a successor wouldn’t be a bad idea with the French man in his twilight. The current second-choice goalkeeper Joe Hart is already 34.

Gollini has become more comfortable with the ball at his feet due to Gasperini’s attacking style of play. Furthermore, the Italian goalkeeper has the traits to be a successful modern-day goalkeeper.

Spurs will look to return to their best form in the upcoming season after a fluctuating 2020/21 season, which saw them finish seventh in the Premier League.
