Tottenham keen on signing Southampton's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Tottenham completed the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg last night.

The player has joined on a five year deal from Southampton and the Londoners will pay around £15m for his services.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with Spurs for a few weeks now and he will be relieved to have sorted his long-term future.

It will be interesting to see how Hojbjerg performs with Tottenham now. He is an established Premier League midfielder and he should be able to make an immediate impact next season.

Jose Mourinho needed someone with his skill set and his signing will certainly improve the Londoners a lot.

Hojbjerg will add composure and defensive protection to Tottenham’s midfield.

The Danish international seemed quite excited to have joined the club and he seems ready to make his mark next season.

Speaking to the media about his transfer to Tottenham, he said: “I like to bring energy, I like to bring wins – hopefully! From the first moment I got to speak to the people at the club, the coach, I think it was very clear to me that Spurs is a very big club but also a club with even more potential to reach the ultimate, and I wanted so much to be a part of that. The leaders and the players that we have, world class. And the coach also, world class.”

Hojbjerg had one year left on his deal with Southampton and that allowed Spurs to sign him for such a reasonable fee. If he can adapt to their style quickly, the Danish midfielder could end up proving to be a massive bargain for the club.
