Benzema double helps Real Madrid to secure a 4-1 victory over Alaves

Karim Benzema-Real Madrid

Real Madrid cruised to a 4-1 win over Deportivo Alaves in the Spanish League earlier tonight.

The Spanish champions came into the game needing a win after the defeat to Athletic Bilbao and Alcoyano in their last two games.

Karim Benzema almost opened the scoring when he latched onto an impressive pass from Luka Modric but his shot resulted in a corner from which Casemiro converted on the 15thminute.

Karim Benzema had his chance on the 41st minute and the Frenchman picked out the top of the net with a sensational finish.

Eden Hazard made it 3-0 to Real Madrid at the stroke of half time with a fine finish over Pacheco.

Alaves scored through Joselu on the 59th minute and they had a faint hope regarding a comeback.

Any chance of a come back was wiped clean when Karim Benzema cut in from the left side to thump the ball into the Alaves net on the 70th minute.

The win tonight leads Real Madrid four points adrift of league leaders Atletico Madrid and Deportivo Alaves are now 17th with 18 points. Alaves are just one point above the drop zone and they will have to turn their form around in the coming weeks if they want to stay in La Liga next season.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have played more games than Atletico and the four point gap could easily widen in the coming weeks. Zidane will have to get his side firing on all cylinders to put any sort of pressure on Atletico this season.
