Atalanta 3-0 Fiorentina: Gosens, Malinovskiy, Toloi score, Atalanta grab 3-points

Ruslan Malinovskiy-Atalanta

The Bergamo outfit ended their brief winning drought after drubbing Fiorentina.

Atalanta are back to the winning ways after thrashing Fiorentina 3-0 as Gosens, Malinovskiy and Toloi found themselves on the score sheet.

Gian Piero Gasperini‘s men were without a win in the past three games in Serie A and there couldn’t have been a better occasion against Fiorentina to reinstate their form.

Robin Gosens put the hosts ahead right before the half time after getting teed off by Duvan Zapata.

Ruslan Malinovskiy doubled the lead not long after the second half started as the Ukrainian ace fired in a brilliant free-kick.

Atalanta put the game to bed after defender Rafael Toloi scored a header minutes after the second goal.

La Dea have carried their momentum from midweek’s Champions League victory over Ajax, which helped them qualify for the knockouts for the second consecutive season.

There were reports regarding Gasperini’s sacking after a poor run of results but the veteran manager has answered his critics with a thumping win against Fiorentina.

La Viola have now been winless for the sixth game in a row and they are currently flirting with relegation.

It will be interesting to see how Atalanta would fare for the remainder of the season as they are currently sitting eighth in the league table. Despite the strong start to the season, La Dea slumped a bit in the middle after suffering defeats against Napoli, Sampdoria and Verona.

The next game against Juventus would be a cracker of a contest and it is also crucial for Atalanta to get back into the top four race.
