Eliminated from the Champions League once again: What next for Juventus, Ronaldo and Pirlo?

Cristiano Ronaldo-Juventus

Juventus crashed out of the Champions League against Porto earlier tonight and this is the third time they have been eliminated from the competition by a weaker side.

The likes of Ajax and Lyon managed to eliminate them prior to this season and the Italian giants will be bitterly disappointed with their performance in the European competitions over the last few seasons.

Juventus invested a lot of money in Cristiano Ronaldo so that the Portuguese international can help them win the Champions League but the former Real Madrid star is yet to hit his best form for the Italian side in European competitions.

It will be interesting to see where Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo go from here.

The Italian side are lumbered with aged players right now and they are in need of a major rebuild this summer.

It remains to be seen whether they are willing to cash in on the marquee players like Ronaldo to fund a rebuild and freshen up the sport in the summer.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo might look for a fresh challenge after failing to deliver the European trophy at Juventus.

A move to France or the MLS would be a good option for the Portuguese superstar if he decides to move on at the end of the season.

As for manager Andrea Pirlo, he has revealed that he joined Juventus on a long term project and he is not worried about his future at the Italian club.

He said: “I’ve been called here at Juventus because it’s the beginning of a new project, looking at the future and for several years. I continue calmly with my work”.
