The battle of highest goal-scorer in Serie A is over, as Ciro Immobile secured a four goal advantage over Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Goal-less Ronaldo in Juventus vs Cagliari

Juventus crashed to yet another defeat in Serie A this week. Cagliari picked up a 2-0 win over them last night.

Cristiano Ronaldo went into the game hoping to get on the score sheet and close down the gap between himself and Ciro Immobile for the European golden boot.

The Portuguese star has 31 goals to his name so far this season and he is trailing Ciro Immobile by four goals right now.

Luca Gagliano and Giovanni Simeone’s goals secured the win for the hosts on the night. Despite having won the title, Juventus cannot afford defeats like these.

The fans and the players will be disappointed with their recent form. It will be interesting to see how Juventus perform in the Champions League now.

The European competition will restart in August and Juventus will be hoping to go all the way.

Immobile added one into his talley against Brescia

Meanwhile, Lazio managed to beat Brescia 2-0 on Wednesday and Ciro Immobile scored his 35th league goal of the season.

The Italian international is now a firm favourite to win the European golden boot ahead of Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, who finished the Bundesliga season with 34 goals, is now one goal behind the Italian. Immobile could add to his tally yet. Lazio have one Serie A game remaining after all.

The Italian striker is also just one goal away from equalling the Serie A record for most goals in a season. Former Napoli ace Gonzalo Higuain scored 36 times during the 2015-16 campaign.
