Lazio have comfortably defeated Napoli 2-0 after goals from Immobile and Alberto.

The Neapolitans were coming off a disappointing performance midweek after losing to Inter Milan. Elsewhere, Lazio entered the game without a win in their last three games.

Ciro Immobile found the nets after a fine header, benefitting from Adam Marusic’s cross.

The goal marked his eighth of the season in Serie A and he is currently fifth in the table in terms of goals.

Luis Alberto doubled the lead not long after the second half started as the Spaniard scored a brilliant goal to give the home side a two-goal advantage.

Napoli, on the other hand, were clumsy today and had their second straight defeat in Serie A.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side are currently fifth in the table and they have been equally disappointing this season against top sides despite the wins against Atalanta and Roma.

Elsewhere, the Biancocelesti manager Simone Inzaghi was elated with the team’s effort against Napoli.

Seeing the attitude we showed tonight, you might think that we only raise our game against the big clubs. I can see why you’d think that.”

“We did drop some points, partly due to the strain of the Champions League, but objectively the performance wasn’t that bad against Verona and Benevento. The only one we got completely wrong in Serie A was at home to Udinese.

“The whole team did well tonight and I asked everyone to make a strong start against a Napoli side that deserved more midweek against Inter. They had injuries, so did we, but I feel we deserved the victory in performance, spirit and every other way.”
