Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud set for AC Milan medical on Monday as the transfer fee and personal terms are agreed.

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is set to join AC Milan this summer.

According to reports, the Italian outfit have had a €2 million offer accepted by the Premier League giants for the 34-year-old striker.

The player has also agreed on a two-year contract with the Italian giants worth around €3.5 million per season, and he will travel to Milan next week and undergo his medical on Monday.

Giroud has dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and it is no surprise that he had decided to leave the Premier League side in search of regular first-team football.

Despite being 34, the French international can be a handy option for Milan next season, and the slow intensity of Italian football should suit him at this stage of his career.

The Chelsea forward is excellent at holding up the play and linking up with his teammates. Giroud is more than a target man, and his technical ability will certainly improve Milan going forward.

The player was supposed to be a free agent this summer, but Chelsea decided to trigger the extension clause for the French footballer. Chelsea inducted fresh talents in their attacking line, like Tomo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech during the last summer. Both Giroud and Tammy Abraham were linked to moving out of Stamford Bridge this summer.

It will be interesting to see if the Blues decide to bring in a replacement for the Frenchman in the coming weeks.

They have already been linked with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Erling Haaland in recent months, but those deals could prove to be extremely expensive this summer.

Thomas Tuchel guided Chelsea to a Champions League win last year, and he will have to improve his attacking options if he wants to win the Premier League title next.
