The new Juventus manager has offered his thoughts after the pre-season win against Novara.
Juventus have won the pre-season friendlies against Novara. Following the win, Andrea Pirlo discussed the new objectives ahead of the new season.
Pirlo emphasised the need for a new striker following the departure of Gonzalo Higuain.
“I need the striker as soon as possible.” “But the market is long. There will be time to be able to work until October 4.”
Luis Suarez has been claimed as the potential target, but Juve Sporting director Fabio Paratici recently labelled the transfer as impossible.
Pirlo also talked about Cristiano Ronaldo, stating that the Portugues ace is in good shape.
“Cristiano is fine.” “He proved it with Portugal and also today.”
The former AC Milan midfielder commented on his formation tweaks in the friendlies.
“We are trying various solutions. In the first half, we played with four at the back; it becomes three in the different phases.”
“In the second half, we stayed with three, preparing different solutions.”
Pirlo admitted that he is well aware of the pressure as a manager of Bianconeri, like being the player.
“I’m the Juventus coach; it’s normal that anyone who comes here must win. I know I have to win, it was like that as a player, and it will be like that as a coach.”
Pirlo’s appointment came out of nowhere, and it remains to be seen whether he can lead his side to success in the upcoming season.
Juve will face Sampdoria in their opening game of Serie A.
