Borja Mayoral-AS Roma

Roma picked up a 3-1 win over Verona in the Italian League earlier tonight.

The home side came into the game needing a win to keep the title race alive and they have now picked up 40 points from 20 matches.

They are six points adrift of League leaders AC Milan and they will be hoping to cut down the deficit in the coming weeks.

Three quick fire goals in the first half of the game were enough to secure the all important three points for Roma tonight and Paulo Fonseca will be impressed with the performance of his players.

Mancini gave Roma their lead on the 20th minute and Mkhitaryan doubled his side’s advantage two minutes later.

Mayoral wrapped up the scoring on the 29th minute.

Verona scored a consolation goal in the second half through Colley but Roma managed to hold on to their advantage and grind out all three points eventually.

The defeat tonight leaves the a side 9th in the League table with 30 points and they will have to improve defensively if they want to secure their place in the top half of the table by the end of the season.

As for Roma, it will be interesting to see if they can improve on their recent performances and sustain the title challenge over the next few weeks.

AC Milan and Inter Milan are certainly better than them in terms of quality and consistency. they will have to stay focused in order to remain in the  hunt for the Scudetto this season.
