Sassuolo 0-3 Inter: Sanchez, Gagliardini put Inter in second spot of Serie A

Inter Milan hit three past Sassuolo to pick up a crucial away win.

Inter have humbled underdogs Sassuolo 3-0 with a clinical performance in weekend’s Serie A fixture.

Alexis Sanchez put Inter ahead in no less than five minutes after a shambolic defence from the hosts.

The defensive horror show continued for Sassuolo as Chiriches scored an own goal to make it 2-0 for Inter. Arturo Vidal’s cross took a big deflection from the defender before flying into the nets.

The Nerazzurri scored their third goal at the hour mark when Roberto Gagliardini found the nets with a blistering shot, assisted by Matteo Darmian.

Sassuolo found it difficult to play through the taut defence of Inter as they suffered their first defeat of the season.

Inter could have had a difficult Champions League campaign in the midweek, suffering a defeat against Real Madrid. But this win could be a morale-boosting one as they have leapfrogged Sassuolo to the second position in the table.

Earlier, Inter had scrapped wins and draws while conceding first but today’s performance was their best of this season yet as they looked comfortable both in attack and defence.

Sassuolo’s fairytale run has also been put to halt but this defeat could be a wake-up call for Roberto De Zerbi’s men.

Meanwhile, Inter can build on this win and find consistency in the domestic competition as they are currently at the risk of getting eliminated from the Champions League group stage for the second straight season. They are currently without no wins in four games they have played thus far.
