Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic.

The 29-year-old has done well for Diego Simeone’s side and he could prove to be a quality addition to Mourinho’s back four. He is integral part of Diego Simeone’s restructuring plan of Atletico defence, where he is supposed to replace Diego Godin and company.

With Jan Vertonghen expected to leave, Spurs needed an experienced alternative. Savic should be a useful option for the Londoners.

He has the experience to adapt to Mourinho’s style and he has played in England before with Manchester City. He spent one season with the Premier League giants but he failed to impress back then.

Savic will be determined to prove himself in the Premier League if he moves to Tottenham.

As per Marca, the player is open to a summer transfer. He believes that this could be his last chance to bag a lucrative deal.

It will be interesting to see if Spurs can tempt him to the Premier League this summer.

Monaco are keen on the player as well and they could offer him regular game time. Spurs might not be able to provide such assurances.

Alderweireld and Sanchez are the top two defenders at the club and Savic will have to work hard to break into the first team starting lineup next season.

He would be more suited to a backup role at Spurs. If playing every week is his priority, Tottenham might not be the right move for him.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up this summer.

Spurs have been linked with other defenders as well and they will be hoping to bring someone in before the next season starts.
