Champions League preview: Real Madrid vs Inter Milan

Zinedine Zidane-Real Madrid-1

Inter Milan will host defending La Liga champions in an exciting group stage clash.

Stadium: San Siro

Key Statistics

  • Inter ended as the losing side when they met Real Madrid in the group stage’s reverse fixture.
  • Madrid have been winless in their last two games in La Liga.

Real Madrid

Following a horrible start to their Champions League campaign, Real Madrid picked up their first win of the group stage against Inter Milan with the scoreline 3-2.

Ever since then, Los Blancos have suffered a humiliating defeat against Valencia and followed by a draw against Villareal last week.

Zinedine Zidane will be without the skipper Sergio Ramos and Federico Valverde while Luka Jovic hasn’t recovered from COVID-19. Casemiro could start the game after recovering from the Coronavirus.

Possible line-up:

Courtois; Carvajal, Varane, Militao, Mendy; Casemiro, Kroos; Asensio, Isco, Hazard; Benzema

Inter Milan

Inter haven’t made their mark yet in the Champions League this season and are currently bottom in their group without a win.

The game against Real Madrid would be crucial for the Nerazzurri to keep their round of 16 hopes alive.

Antonio Conte hasn’t had the brightest of the starts to their Serie A campaign either, currently placed fifth in the table. However, they are coming off an incredible comeback win against Torino on Sunday as Romelu Lukaku hit a brace. The Belgian has been in some form this season and his strike partner Lautaro Martinez is also not far behind.

Aleksandar Kolarov and Marcelo Brozovic haven’t recovered from coronavirus while Stefano Sensi and Mattias Vecino are left out of the contest injured.

Possible lineup

Handanovic; Skriniar, Bastoni, De Vrij; Hakimi, Barella, Vidal, Gagliardini, Perisic; Martinez, Lukaku
