Dortmund 3-0 Club Brugge: Haaland, Sancho on the scoresheet as Dortmund get 3-points

Erling Haaland-Borussia Dortmund

Die Borussen move close towards qualification for knockout stages after beating Club Brugge at Signal Iduna Park.

Borussia Dortmund have picked up a comprehensive 3-0 win against Club Brugge as Erling Haaland bagged a double.

The Norwegian striker opened the account in the 18th minute after he was picked out by Jadon Sancho. Haaland comfortably sent the ball past goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Brugge had a good chance for the equaliser but Vormer’s strike went wide off the far post.

The hosts doubled the lead right before the half time when Jude Bellingham was brought down at the edge of the penalty area. Sancho scored a magical free-kick which also left manager Lucian Favre in awe.

Haaland’s strike in the second half wound up the game literally as Dortmund sealed three points.

Since their defeat against Lazio in the opening match of the Champions League, Dortmund have won all of their group stage games and are now one step away from reaching the round of 16.

Sancho, who hasn’t been amongst goals, chipped in with a goal and an assist and this performance would give him enough confidence moving forward.

Haaland has continued his rich vein of form and tonight’s brace marked his 16th goal of the season in all competitions. The 20-year-old had scored four goals last week against Hertha Berlin. He is currently leading the scoring charts in UCL with 6 goals while trailing Robert Lewandowski by a goal in Bundesliga.

Following the 3-2 defeat against Bayern Munich, Dortmund have won back to back games and are currently second in the Bundesliga table, trailing the leaders Bayern by a point.
