Guardiola hails Bayern as the best team in Europe, not Man City, but the statistics show otherwise

Pep Guardiola-Manchester City

The Spanish manager feels the Bavarians are the best in Europe at the moment.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has labelled Bayern Munich the best team in Europe although his side has been equally unstoppable this season.

Man City stretched their winning streak to 21 games in the Premier League after humbling Wolves 4-1 at the Etihad.

However, Guardiola still feels his former club Bayern are a cut above the rest as they won the sextuple under Hansi Flick.

“The best team in Europe and the world are Bayern Munich because they won everything – they are the best.

“In England, the champions are Liverpool because they are the best. If you want to take the crown, you have to win.

“In March, nobody is champions.  We have to do well and try to win but we cannot deny the last few months were exceptional in terms of results.”

But when you take a closer look at the stats for this season, City have a better winning percentage (80%) than Bayern ( 75%) and also conceded fewer goals than the Bundesliga champions.

Guardiola also insisted that there is no time left to talk about his side’s success and the unstoppable run they are in now.

“We don’t have time. There are many games, every three days a game so we have to rest and think another one.

“When you win you are happy but the day after you have to think the next one. This is what we have to do.

“It is nice but it is next game. When it happens you think ‘ok another game another record’ but we are here to try and win the title. The people demand it.”

Man City have moved 15 points ahead of Manchester United at the top of the Premier League table following the win against Wolves.
