Liverpool 1-0 Ajax: Jones goal helps Liverpool to move to knockout round

Liverpool picked up a 1-0 win over Ajax in the Champions League earlier tonight.

The Reds came into this game needing a win to secure their place in the knockout rounds of the Champions League and Jurgen Klopp will be delighted with his team’s performance here.

Liverpool were dominant from start to finish, and they could have easily scored more goals.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, missed chances to increase Liverpool’s advantage late on in the second half.

The Reds took the lead through Curtis Jones on the 58th minute after a mistake from the Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Liverpool did well to defend their advantage and secure the three points in the end.

With star goalkeeper Alisson out injured, Jurgen Klopp decided to give youngster Kelleher a chance and the Irishman put on a splendid display.

It will be tough for Adrian to get back into the side now after the youngsters matured display in the Champions League tonight.

As for Ajax, they will be under massive pressure in their final group game now, and it will be interesting to see if they can secure their place in the knockout rounds of the competition with a win.

Liverpool have managed to win group D, and they will be hoping to rest most of their key players for the final group game against Midtjylland.
