Neymar ruled out of Barcelona clash with due to adductor injury

PSG 0-1 Marseille Five including Neymar sent off in Le Classique

The Brazilian will miss the trip to his former club next week.

PSG have confirmed that Neymar will be out of action for around four weeks due to the adductor injury he suffered against Caen, which means that he will miss the Champions League clash against Barcelona next week.

The Brazilian picked up the injury during last night’s French Cup game and was subbed off midway through.

Following the game, Pochettino coned that Neymar has an injury to his left adductor but was uncertain about its extent. Now, Les Parisiens have confirmed that the 28-year-old won’t return before four weeks and there are also uncertainties regarding his participation in the second leg against Barca next month.

The club statement read,

“Neymar suffered an injury to the left adductor longus on Wednesday evening. Upon analysis of the clinical examination and imaging examinations, an unavailability of approximately 4 weeks is expected depending on the course.”

While they are already without Angel Di Maria for next week’s round of 16 clash, Neymar’s injury comes as a timely blow for Les Parisiens.

Perhaps, the former Santos star has an underwhelming record of injuries, with many of them coming at the crucial stage of European games.

In fact, Brazilian’s only uninterrupted season – without any significant injuries – in the Champions League was the 2019/20 season, in which he played a key role behind PSG ending up as the runners.

Neymar has been one of the best players in the Champions League this season, finding the nets six times in five appearances.
