Olympiacos 0-1 Manchester City: Foden scores, as City qualify for knockout

Phil Foden-Manchester City

Manchester City picked up a 1-0 win over Olympiacos in the Champions League earlier tonight.

Phil Foden scored the only goal of the game for Manchester City on the 36th minute and the Premier League side managed to defend their advantage for the rest of the game.

Pep Guardiola’s team were the favourites heading into this game and it is no surprise that they have managed to pick up all three points.

Manchester City have been in impressive form when it comes to European football and they will be hoping to build on this start and go all the way in the Champions League this year.

Today’s win leaves Manchester City on top of Group C with 12 points from four matches and they have secured their place in the next round of the competition now.

It will be interesting to see if Pep Guardiola decides to rest his key players for the remaining two group games of the Champions League in order to keep them fresh for the Christmas run in.

Olympiacos are third in their group after three consecutive defeats and they will be hoping to win their remaining two games in order to stand a chance of making it to the knockout rounds of the competition.

They are just three points behind Porto with two games left in the group stages and qualification to the knockout rounds is still possible.
