West Brom secure second place in Championship to qualify in PL

West Brom secured their place in the Premier League last night after a 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers at home.

Brentford’s 2-1 defeat allowed them to secure automatic qualification despite dropping points on final day.

The Baggies went 1-0 down on the 34th minute of the game after a goal from Ryan Manning. However, the on loan West Ham winger Grady Diangana scored the equalizer ten minutes later.

Robinson handed the home side their lead five minutes after the restart but their joy was shortlined. The extremely talented Eberechi Eze leveled things up around the hour mark.

Both teams tried their best to break the deadlock after that but they failed to do so.

West Brom could have easily slipped to the playoffs but Brentford’s poor showing has given them the golden ticket to the Premier League.

The Baggies will consider themselves extremely lucky to have made the cut.

At one point it seemed like they would win the Championship. However, they slipped up quite a few times since the restart and that allowed Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds to win the Championship and secure promotion as the Champions this season. Leeds United lifted Championship trophy at the end of their match against Charlton, which they won 4-0 yesterday.

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic expressed his relief after the game. He also revealed that securing promotion with the Baggies is now at the top of his list of achievements as a manager.

Brentford and Fulham are just two points behind West Brom in the table and the Baggies will know that they have got away with one here.
