Ronaldo stunt tanks Coca Cola shares

According to the latest reports, Cristiano Ronaldo is Coca Cola gesture has hit the company massively in a financial sense.

The Portuguese international arrived for the press conference ahead of Portugal’s opening game on Monday, and he was seen removing two Coca Cola bottles from the table.

The Juventus superstar followed it up with a message that people should drink water instead of fizzy drinks.

As per reports, $4 billion have been knocked off the company’s market value since then.

Coca Cola has now responded with a statement claiming that everyone is entitled to their own preferences regarding drinks and that players are always offered water and a zero-sugar version of Coke when they arrive for press conferences.

“Everyone is entitled to their drink preferences, and everyone has different tastes and needs”.

A spokesperson added: “Players are offered water, alongside Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, on arrival at our press conferences.”

The Portuguese star follows a strict health regime, and it is no surprise that he chose to show his disdain for fizzy drinks.

Pogba follows suit

Meanwhile, French international Paul Pogba has also followed suit.

The Manchester United mimicked Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunt during a press conference after France’ 1-0 win over Germany in the European Championships last night.

The midfielder was seen removing a bottle of Heineken from the table.

Heineken are the official beer partners of Euro 2020, and it will be interesting to see how Pogba’s stunt affects its market value.

It is believed that Pogba has removed the beer from his table because of his religious beliefs.
