Euro 2020 is set to commence on June 11, and North Macedonia will face Austria in first Group-E encounter on June 13. Here we take a look at the teams and players in Group E.

Group E comprises of four teams: Poland, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Ukraine.

Poland

Poland has participated in eight FIFA World Cups, the first of which was in 1938 when they were defeated by Brazil. Poland’s greatest result is a bronze medal, which it won in 1974 and 1982, and which is considered the “golden era” of Polish international football.

Manager

Jerzy Brzczek led Poland through qualifying, but in January 2021, he was replaced by Paulo Sousa, a midfielder who played for Portugal in EURO ’96 and UEFA EURO 2000. He has coached in England, Hungary, Israel, Switzerland, Italy, China, and France, among other places.

Manager

When Pavel Hapal stepped down following the play-off semi-final, assistant Stefan Tarkovic assumed interim command for the second time in October, but was handed the post on a long-term basis in December 2020. For EURO 2016, he was a member of Ján Kozák’s coaching staff.

Manager

Luis Enrique took a leave of absence in June 2019 for personal reasons, but returned in November once qualifying was completed. In 2015, he led Barcelona to the UEFA Champions League title.

Sweden

Sweden has competed in twelve World Cups, the first of which was in 1934. They’ve also competed in the European Championship six times. Sweden came in second place at the FIFA World Cup in 1958, and third place in both 1950 and 1994. A gold medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics, as well as bronze medals in 1924 and 1952, are among Sweden’s major achievements.

Manager

Janne Andersson is the driving force behind Sweden’s current rebirth. He took over in 2016, leading his team to their first World Cup in 12 years and then topping a UEFA Nations League group that included Russia and Turkey.
