Mancini has announced the preliminary squad for Euro 2020

Italy have announced their preliminary squad for the upcoming Euro 2020, containing 33 members.

Chelsea duo Jorginho and Emerson haven’t been included as they are set to play in the Champions League final against Manchester City later this month.

Sassuolo youngster Giacomo Raspadori has been a surprise inclusion following his breakout season in Serie A. The 21-year-old has racked up a total of 6 goals and 3 three assists this season while scoring against top clubs like Juventus and AC Milan.

Italy has plenty of striker options to boast about as the likes of Moise Kean, Andrea Belotti, Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne have all been called up by manager Roberto Mancini.

The Azzurri boast an array of top-quality midfielders, including the likes of Nicolo Barella, Manuel Locatelli, Marco Verratti, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Fiorentina’s Castrovilli. Atalanta’s Matteo Pessina, who made his international debut at the end of the last year, is also considered by Mancini after an impressive season in Serie A.

The legendary duo of Chiellini and Leanardo Bonucci from Juventus have also got the nod while Franco Acerbi of Lazio continues to gain the trust of Mancini. Alessandro Bastoni, the young centre-back who was part of the Inter Milan side that lifted the Scudetto this season, has also been included in the provisional squad. The 22-year-old formed a great partnership in Antonio Conte’s defence with Stefan de Vrig and Milan Skriniar.
