Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has provided his expert guide on the teams competing in the European Championships this summer, and the Portuguese believes that England must do everything in their power to win the tournament this time.

The group stages of the competition will be held in England and the semi-finals, and the final will be hosted by England as well.

This is a glorious opportunity for the England national team to succeed in front of their own fans, and it will be interesting to see if Gareth Southgate can lead the Three Lions to glory in the Euro 2020.

Mourinho said: “The group phase is at home. The semi-finals and final are at home. It has to be now because it was in 1966. It wasn’t in Euro 96 because of a penalty shootout which is something very unpredictable. They have to push with everything this time.”

England have often gone into major tournaments with quality squads, but they have flattered to deceive.

There is no doubt that Southgate has a very impressive young squad at his disposal this time around, and it remains to be seen whether the youngsters are capable of stepping it up at the biggest stage.

Mourinho believes that England and Brazil are two of the most difficult countries to manage because of the expectations and the culture.

He has urged the likes of Southgate to be emotionally stronger in order to cope with the pressure.

Mourinho has also claimed that Southgate has a great assistant in Steve Holland, and it could prove to be very important for England.

The squad is filled with players who have been excellent for their respective clubs and have ended up winning the Premier League title and the Champions League title this past season.

It remains to be seen whether Southgate can devise a way for them to succeed together at the international stage now.
