Belgium 4-2 Denmark: Lukaku double ensures semifinal spot

Romelu Lukaku- Belgium International

Belgium cruise to a win over Denmark thanks to a brace from Romelu Lukaku, ensuring semifinal spot in Italy.

Belgium picked up a 4-2 win over Denmark in the UEFA Nations League earlier tonight.

Youri Tielemans scored the opening goal of the game for Belgium three minutes into the game but Denmark managed to score the leveller on the 17th minute through Jonas Wind.

Belgium were impressive going forward and they took the lead once again in the second half when Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal of the game on the 57th minute. The Inter Milan striker doubled his tally twelve minutes later to make it 3-1 to Belgium.

At that point, it seemed like Belgium would run away with the game.

However, Thibaut Courtois’ own goal on the 86th minute gave Denmark some hope of getting a point from this game. However, Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne scored Belgium’s fourth of the night on the 87th minute to wrap up the scoring and all three points.

Tonight’s win takes Belgium into the last four of the UEFA Nations League.

They needed a draw heading into this game but they managed to secure maximum points against a resilient Denmark side. Belgium are the number one ranked team in world football right now and they showed why.

Belgium were the better team here and they deserved to pick up all three points. However, they will be wary of their defensive deficiencies and they will have to improve on that front in the coming months.
