Kerala Blasters 1-1 East Bengal: Kerala fightback to secure a draw

Jacques Maghoma-East Bengal

Kerala blasters picked up a 1-1 win over East Bengal in the Indian Super League earlier tonight.

Kone scored an own goal on the 13th minute to give East Bengal their lead and Thaunaojam scored the equaliser on the 95th minute.

Kerala were ninth in the Indian Super League table going into the game and they were under pressure to secure a win and climb up the table.

They are one of the better teams in the country but they have been very inconsistent this season and the fans will be expecting better in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile East Bengal have been the worst team in the division this year and they  had picked up just one point From five matches coming into this game.

Manager Robbie Fowler is under tremendous pressure to turn his teams form around and it will be interesting to see if the former Premier League  player can make amends in the coming matches.

Historically, East Bengal are one of the biggest clubs in Indian football and a club of their stature cannot afford to slip up like they have done this season.

It will be interesting to see if things improve going forward but there is no doubt that the fans will be thoroughly disappointed with the effort from their players so far this season.
