Kerala Blasters 2-0 Hyderabad: Hakku, Murray score as Kerala win

East Bengal

Kerala Blasters picked up a 2-0 win over Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League earlier tonight.

It was their first win of the campaign and the home side will be delighted with their performance.

Abdul Hakku gave Kerala their lead with a splendid header on the 29th minute and Jordan Murray wrapped up the scoring with a goal on the 88th minute for Kibu Vicuna’s side.

Both teams had enough chances to get on the scoresheet and Hyderabad will be thoroughly disappointed with their finishing here.

Kerala were the better team on the balance of play and they deserved to pick up all three points in the end.

They could have broken the deadlock earlier on in the game but Odei Onaindia managed to bail out Hyderabad after Sahal pounced on Rai’s poor touch and squared the ball for his teammate to slot it in.

Aridane Santana had the best chances for Hyderabad but he failed to make the most of them.

Kerala scored the opening goal after Facundo Pereyra’s inch-perfect cross was headed in by Hakku. They could have doubled their advantage soon after but Sahal failed to hit the target with his shot hitting the side netting.

Subrata Pal followed it up with stunning save to keep out Rahul KP’s deflected shot.

Hyderabad had their best chance of the game on the 80th minute when Halicharan Narzary cut in from the left and had the goal at his mercy. However, his shot sailed over the bar.

Murray delivered the hammering blow late on in the game and wiped out by chance of a Hyderabad comeback. Adil Khan failed to deal with a cross in the Hyderabad box and Murray managed to guide the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

The win tonight leaves Kerala 9th in the league table with six points from seven matches and Hyderabad are 8th with nine points.

Both sets of fans will be demanding a lot better from their fans and it will be interesting to see if they can step up and deliver in the coming weeks.
