Major League Soccer side Inter Miami could be forced to change their name after losing the first round of legal battle with Italian side Inter Milan.

Inter Milan have decided to sue the American League for trademark infringement and it will be interesting to see if David Beckham can get his side out of this mess now.

The Italian outfit had a decision ruled in their favour in the court on Monday and Inter Miami are now expected to submit an appeal to the USPTO to overturn the decision.

It remains to be seen if the former England international then agree on a compromise with the Italian club in the coming weeks.

Rebranding his MLS team could end up costing him millions of dollars.

Inter Miami played their first game in the MLS in March 2020 and they reportedly have grand plans in the coming years.

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has been linked with a move to David Beckham’s side after the Argentine purchased a luxury apartment on the Florida coast.

Inter Milan believe that the term ‘Inter’ is synonymous with them and that is why they decided to file a trademark application with the United States patent Trademark Office back in 2014.
