The Ligue 1 giants have joined the race lately for Dutch free agent.

PSG have reportedly joined the race for Barcelona target Georginio Wijnaldum.

It has been widely reported that Wijnaldum’s deal to Barca is all but done after the Dutch midfielder bid farewell to Liverpool.

According to a new report, Paris-Saint Germain are planning to hijack the 30-year-old by presenting him with a lucrative offer.

However, Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano insists that Blaugrana remain optimistic over Wijnaldum’s free transfer and also planned a medical for him. He also added that the Catalan club is waiting for the final answer from the player.

Wijnaldum has long been linked with Barca ever since his former Netherlands national team manager Ronald Koeman took charge.

The former Newcastle United star was also said to have convinced with the idea of reuniting with his former boss, and hence he declined the contract extension from the Reds.

Bayern Munich had also expressed their interest in Wijnaldum, but they are now thrown out of the equation.

Barca have already secured the deals for Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia, and Wijnaldum could be their third free transfer ahead of next season – a strategy devised by president Joan Laporta to cope up with Barca’s financial straits.

Besides, the Spanish giants have been linked with Lyon star Memphis Depay, another Dutch contingent favoured by Koeman. The Blaugrana are said to be hopeful of completing the deal for the 26-year-old in the coming weeks.

Barca and PSG look to have engaged in a tug of war for Wijanldum, but it remains to be seen where he would end up eventually.

The Dutch international, who is currently with the national team for Euro 2020, would bring a lot of experience to the midfield whatever the club he chooses.
